Putting the "picture" into picturesque, Art on the Lake sets sail on Alta Lake where visitors will spend the day immersed in stunning nature, while exploring a floating art gallery that will feature more than 30 Sea-to-Sky area artists, 12 local bands and a whole boatload of totally free, totally family.

With the pandemic-induced ban on large gatherings of more than 50 people, Arts Whistler had to run the concept for its newest roving art experience all the way up to B.C.'s top health official. "We literally had to go up as far as [provincial health officer Dr.] Bonnie Henry to get an exemption for her current event order," explains Mo Douglas, Arts Whistler's executive director.

For the first time, Art on the Lake coincides this year with another favourite lakeside event, Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival, running Friday, Aug. 11 and 12, giving Friday attendees the chance to float over to The Point Artist-Run Centre after Art on the Lake wraps up.
