I attempted to list my piano for sale on ebay, however ebay have very strict rules about instruments with ivory keys and although it is pre-1900, they expect documentation of proof which I don't have! Would quite like some general advice on how much my piano could be.

Hopkinson Pianos. In 1835 at Leeds in Yorkshire, the Hopkinson family music-selling business was established. A few years later two of the brothers, John and James had retail premises in the centre of Leeds. Nearby, the Kirk family were making pianos and it is not too fanciful to suppose the Hopkinson brothers would take some of the Kirk pianos.

Hopkinson is a very common British make, varying from excellent to acceptable, though some pre 1900 uprights are often overdampers. and basic. Hopkinson upright pianos made from about 1915 to 1930 often have a very rich and pleasing tone with a responsive touch. Hopkinson baby grands are fair, about the same level as smaller Challen baby grands.

Hopkinson, J. J. John Hopkinson originally established his firm in Leeds in 1835 as "J. J. Hopkinson". In 1846, John Hopkinson took his brother James into partnership, forming the firm of "The J. J. Hopkinson Piano Company", and the firm was moved to London. Hopkinson was one of the larger English piano manufacturers during the 19th.

It's a beautiful piano in red mahogany and has the number 73953. Does anybody know how old this piano is and if it has any value in spite of the trend of falling values on pianos.
